Mini Lini Update - February 2006
During development of the Mini Lini, we found inconsistencies in the electro-mechanical contacts in the plug in modules that had the potential to cause failure in the field. Intensive mechanical testing identified some weaknesses in the connectors. We are continuing to explore alternate sources and solutions to this issue, but until this issue is resolved, the Mini Lini cannot be released. Meanwhile, we are working on an interim product that is self-contained, and does not use plug in modules. It is a single frequency, 20M unit with the same footprint of the Mini Lini. Our goal is to have it available by the end of the year.
Nearly 10 years after it's introduction, SGC has announced the retirement of the popular SG-2020 HF transceiver.
The SG-2020 was particularly popular in mobile and portable operations and is used by radio amateurs and emergency services worldwide. In announcing the retirement of this radio, SGC President Pamela Goral stated: "When the SG-2020 was introduced in 1996, it was a huge success, with thousands of units on backorder. The SG-2020 filled a niche market for low power, rugged HF that was not met by any other manufacturer. We believe it will become a collectors' classic. In making this decision, SGC has elected to focus manufacturing on our very successful line of Smartuner™ antenna couplers, power amplifiers and accessories."
Production of the SG-2020 ended in September, with the last remaining units sold in October. SGC will continue to provide service and warranty for all units currently in the field.
SGC is retiring the SG-231 Smartuner™ from our product line. The SG-231 provided a wider frequency range, higher tuning resolution and 32 times as many possible tuning combinations as previous models. SGC continues to manufacture the popular SG-230, SG-237, SG-239 and SG-235 antenna couplers.
The SG-231 quality Smartuner designed to meet the precision tuning demands of government users. It is a ruggedly built and flexible coupler that works extremely well with most 100W HF transceivers, including 6M coverage. It has been one of SGCs most reliable products with a very low repair incidence and very long installation/service life.
The final production of SG-231s will be completed in September and the last remaining units can be purchased through SGC dealers at a significant savings (MSRP $595.00). SGC will continue to provide quality service on the SG-231 and the remaining couplers will be covered by SGC's standard 1 year warranty.
