I intend to put it on the inside of my 31 foot Airstream travel trailer with a home brew 28 foot antenna in the middle of the trailer! I will mount the SG-230 on the ceiling of the trailer and use a 2 inch insulated feedthrough going through the roof! I have been using the the MFJ-945D mobile manual tuner with the SG-2000 Powertalk™ radio here in the trailer with a "Half-square" end fed antenna along the side of the Airstream. I do hope I get the vertical up and running with the SG-230 tuner in the trailer before Spring time!

SG-235 on Mazda 626
Using an Icom 706MkIIG with SG-500 SmartPowerCube™, SG-235 and SG-303 antenna. Installation with Hustler ball mount requires at least 3/4 inch clearance around pass through hole. Replace carriage bolts with nylon bolts and metal washer with nylon spacer (to avoid RF jumping to ground) Also used battery isolator with Marine type deep cycle gel cell in trunk. Number 4 gauge wire used for all power connections.

SG-230 on Toyota Camry
I have a Toyota Camry station wagon. The HF transceiver sits on the floor behind the drivers seat. I have earthed this to the body of the car. It needs the full length of the SG-230 cable to reach to it. The tuner is located in a space under the wagon floor, beside the spare tire. This is earthed to the body by an eight to ten inch length of 1 inch copper flat braid. The antenna is a home made nine foot whip, which sits on a fiberglass base with 6 turns of 2mm wire over a 2 inch fiberglass former to give some base loading. The antenna is connected to the tuner by about 18 inches of ordinary electrical wire. Where it goes through the body of the car, I have used a ceramic feedthru. The body where this is located is double skinned, with the skins about 1 inch apart.
The control head for the tuner sits on the dash and is made up more or less in accordance with your suggestions, with LED's for power on, tuned state and locked. I have bypassed all the control cables to this unit. The power on switch controls a relay in a box adjacent to the transceiver.
