SGC President Bruce Wood and other representatives from SGC travelled to Central California in early September 2006. While there, they paid surprise visits to two Ham Radio Outlet locations in Oakland and Sunnyvale. The visit is one way that the new owner is making an effort to build strong industry ties and reposition the company. Left: Bruce with Mark, WI7YN of HRO Oakland. Right: The Oakland Store Front.
SGC Conserves Energy, Expands Hours and Supports Employees
Effective in January 2006, SGC will begin a 4 day work-week. The new schedule is just one way that SGC is contributing to local conservation efforts. In order to accommodate the shorter week, SGC's hours will be expanding: 7:00am PST to 5:30pm PST M - Th. Since nearly half of SGC's business is international and a large number of customers are concentrated on the East coast of the USA, the expansion in hours will allow SGC's technical service and sales departments to operate more efficiently and better serve customers. SGC employees, particularly those with long commutes will also benefit from the new schedule, receiving three day weekends, and conserving fuel.
SGC Under New Ownership
Two years after the death of SGC founder, Pierre Goral, , his widow, Pamela Goral sold the company to a long time employee. Bruce Wood, who has worked at SGC for more than 25 years in various capacities, and is well suited to lead the company. He brings manufacturing and engineering experience to his role as President, as well as enthusiasm and support from the other SGC employees. Wood, shown here with departing Pamela Goral, states: “there will be no significant changes at SGC and all policies and pricing will remain the same. We will continue to offer the best products and the best customer service in the industry”.
