It looks funny, but in fact it's a quad loop antenna that really works. This type of antenna is great in an emergency when there are no alternatives and you can make a lot of good contacts with it.

Broomsticks make for an interesting demonstration, but the antenna can be built from any non-conductive support that will make a square. Each support should be approximately 7 feet long to allow 80 feet of wire to wrap around the outside 3-4 times. Excess wire can be brought down the support pole and taped in place where it goes to the Smartuner™.
