During development of the Mini Lini, we found inconsistencies in the electro-mechanical contacts in the plug in modules that had the potential to cause failure in the field. Intensive mechanical testing identified some weaknesses in the connectors. We are continuing to explore alternate sources and solutions to this issue, but until this issue is resolved, the Mini Lini cannot be released. Meanwhile, we are working on an interim product that is self-contained, and does not use plug in modules. It is a single frequency, 20M unit with the same footprint of the Mini Lini. Our goal is to have it available by the end of the year.
The world's smallest, most efficient 500 watt HF linear amplifier.
The patent-pending MINI LINI from SGC has 500W output (5W Minimum Input) and weighs only 4 pounds including AC power supply. It's compact enough to hold in one hand. The MINI LINI is extremely
efficient due to its unique design based on the innovative use of Class E technology. The unit operates on single HF amateur bands via plug-in modules. The first of its kind, the MINI LINI also features the reliability, self protection and simple
operation you expect from SGC products: Just plug in the AC power cable, connect RF, select your band, power-on and transmit.
The MINI LINI is supplied with a plug-in module for 20M. Additional modules for 160, 80, 40, 17 and 15 meters are sold seperately.
More information on the Mini Lini
SGC has been designing new communications products for the amateur, as well as military and commercial markets for more than 30 years. Our latest developement incorporates mature technology that has been proven for more than 50 years in the broadcast industry. Now, timing and progress in high performance components allows us to utilize this technology in a radical new product - the MINI LINI.
The MINI LINI is a 500 watt HF linear amplifier that is much smaller, much lighter and much more efficient than anything previously available to the amateur market. And the complete package, including AC power supply weighs less than five pounds. You can hold the MINI LINI in one hand.
The MINI LINI uses class E technology that is capable of efficiency close to 90%. The high effeciency offers many advantages; in fact, the heat produced is less than 1/6 that of a conventional linear amplifier at the same output power. And, AC power consumption is about 1/3 less than a conventional amplifier. This means that the MINI LINI will work well on any normal 120 VAC outlet.
The MINI LINI uses a seperate plug-in amplifier module for each band. We supply the unit with a 20M module and additional modules are available for 160, 80, 40, 17 and 15 meters. RF rated MOSFETs and modern switching power supply components allow this compact, cost effective design.
Class E linear technology is fairly new to the amateur radio field, but these techniques have been proven through years of use in the broadcast industry. In fact, short wave SSB broadcast transmitters capable of 100KW and more use similar techniques on a regular basis. The MINI LINI is an exciting and innovative use of this proven technology.
The MINI LINI requires very little space on your desktop and is a fine companion for a small transceiver; a medium power amateur station complete in a small space. Imagine how SGC's new MINI LINI would fit in your ham shack.
