I have installed an SG-237Smartuner in the trunk of my Toyota Camry. The tuner is hidden underneath the carpet in the trunk, it is mounted right onto one of the ball mount bolts in the rear quarter panel.
The antenna is a 108" fiberglass CB whip. As you can see the tuner mounted this way required only 4" of 12 gauge wire to connect. I operate 80 meters through 6 meters with the tuner and the whip.

SGC Technical Notes: We recommend this type of installation for use on all frequencies above 7 MHz. Although the coupler will tune below the 7 MHz frequency range, the isolation of a ball mount may not be sufficient for high RF voltage developed in short whip antennas that my exceed 5000VRMS and therefore your system may not operate reliably after installation and natural aging factors.
