An Intercontinental 1000 still in service in Africa
Quality and Reliability are big words at SGC. We do not use them lightly. Occasionally, we get a letter from someone that helps demonstrate the importance of our commitment to both. A recent letter from Asmerom Michael, a Senior Avionics Engineer with the Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa, surprised and delighted us. There is no better way to say this than to quote from his letter:
" ... I have promised to send you a picture of our SGC International 1000 HF Radios, which are still in use in the region since I installed them back in 1978. Out of the 71 I installed in 1978, the one in Mogadiscio (Somalia) and one in Hargeisa (Republic of Somaliland) were either looted or destroyed during the 1991 civil war, the rest are still serviceable."
Mrs. Monica Arusha of Tanzania is shown operating the Intercontinental 1000 radio as installed. We are proud to be supporting such an important effort as DLCO-EA (Desert Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa).
